Applied Leadership Facilitation – Accelerating the Success of Key Initiatives While Building Leadership Capabilities
There are times when an organization needs to accomplish a critical initiative that calls on people to apply skills that go beyond their current capabilities. But the organization is unable to take the time to train people in the needed skills to lead the initiative. In situations like this, we help clients achieve important objectives on schedule, while also developing the capabilities of the people involved in the effort. We do this by combining our coaching and leadership training capabilities with our practical on-the-ground “project management” experience to design a facilitation approach that ensures the job gets done and that people develop important capabilities in the process.
Although each situation is unique, some typical ways we have customized approaches to these situations include:
- Developing “structured launch workshops” to help organizations focus and launch key initiatives and projects. This is particularly useful when an organization has multiple teams working on independent, but related, initiatives where consistency in their work approach helps promote easier portfolio management and greater organizational efficiency and flexibility.
- Developing “strategic working groups” charged with bringing about major organizational changes in which leaders who play critical roles in the existing organization need to play different, critical roles in the new organization. The working group approach provides these leaders with an opportunity to work with other leaders they may not have interacted with in the past while providing an opportunity for them to contribute to the full definition of what the new organization will be, thereby breaking down resistance to change and building direct personal ownership of the new framework.
- Developing “customized leadership development roadmaps” that integrate multiple, reinforcing leadership development activities to help leaders develop meaningful personal leadership career paths.
