Developing Executive Ability to
Drive a Major Business Transformation


Problem: A mid-sized not-for-profit health insurer was experiencing a significant shift in its competitive market requiring them to radically re-invent their organization to focus on new markets and to become more efficient and price competitive. To address this compelling need, the organization took on two significant initiatives – implementing a major business systems integration, and redesigning their entire set of business processes to achieve major efficiencies. The organization had no previous experience leading this magnitude of radical change.

Approach: We advised the CEO and facilitated senior executive planning meetings to help the  executive team understand its role in leading a change of this magnitude. We helped the team establish and communicate an inspirational picture of the future, articulate a compelling business case to help overcome resistance to change and fully engage the organization to align and commit to a shared focus. We coached the CIO to help identify, focus and plan IT’s transition and retention strategy. We co-created an Enterprise Transformation Change Management Plan and supported the leadership team in providing effective guidance and direction to the implementation teams. 

Results: As a result of our efforts, executives were united in their approach to leading this major transformation. They engaged the workforce in open dialogue that led to buy-in and commitment to a new way of operating. They successfully integrated the new business system with their new, efficient business processes. Ultimately, the leadership team became the catalyst to help the organization create real impact in its market and re-energize the workforce to be both client-focused and highly efficient.
